1. What is Remote Control?

It connects the Claude app on your phone to the Claude Code session running on your computer. Claude keeps running on your computer, so your files and tools stay there. Your phone is just a window into it. You need a Pro plan or above.

2. Turn it on

Already in a session? Run:

claude
/remote-control

Or /rc for short. The first time, it asks you to confirm. You can also start Claude with it already on:

terminal
claude --remote-control

3. Connect your phone

Run /remote-control again to see the session link and a QR code. Scan the QR code to open it in the Claude app, or open the link in any browser.

You can also open the Claude app, tap Code and find your session in the list. A green dot means it's online. No Claude app yet? Run /mobile.

4. Keep going from your phone

Type from your phone or your computer. Both stay in sync. You can send photos from your phone too, and switch /model or /effort from there.

5. Keep your computer on

Claude runs on your computer, so leave it on and keep the terminal open. If your laptop sleeps or the Wi-Fi drops, it reconnects when it's back.

6. Turn it on for every session

claude
/config

Set Enable Remote Control for all sessions to true. Now every new session shows up on your phone.

7. Turn it off

Run /remote-control again and disconnect. Your session keeps running on your computer.
